Welcome to Kings Farm Close

At Kings Farm Close, we’re not just building new homes; we’re working on a pioneering project that sets a new standard in bringing high-performance housing to Oxfordshire.

When complete, the development will comprise:

  • 6 affordable homes, in one of the most expensive areas of the UK
  • The affordable homes include four homes let to tenants at below-market rates by Sovereign Housing Association, and two shared ownership homes, helping people get onto the property ladder
  • 9 homes for sale on the open market

What’s more, the 15 new homes at Kings Farm Close will have near-zero carbon footprints, thanks to their use of the Biond offsite construction system.

One Planet Living

In 2018, Kings Farm Close was awarded One Planet Action Plan ‘national leadership’ status by specialist sustainability charity, Bioregional.

Kings Farm Close’s developer, Oxford Advanced Living, and Greencore drew up a One Planet Action Plan, covering all aspects of sustainability (social, economic and environmental), based on the ten One Planet Living principles.

Kings Farm Close highlights

Locking up carbon

The homes at Kings Farm Close will be made using timber panels containing a thick insulation layer made from Yorkshire-grown hemp and lime. These panels lock up carbon within the homes and radically reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, compared with conventional brick and block walls.

Offsite manufacturing

The panels are manufactured offsite in Greencore’s own factory at Worminghall near Oxford. This approach dramatically reduces on-site construction time, in turn reducing the impact construction has on the local community.

Healthy, comfortable living

All-natural materials and a ventilation system that recovers heat help to improve indoor air quality while cutting energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Building for the future

A management company will be created to look after the shared parts of the development after the homes are completed. This company will be run by the residents, who will be encouraged to continue following the One Planet Action Plan, and to regularly review their progress.
