• A two-storey, 160mhouse
  • The house sits on an insulated slab with a U-value of 0.1 W/m2.K
  • The walls are made using the Biond building system with woodfibre board and render as the external finish, giving a U-value of 0.12W/m2
  • The windows are Rationel triple glazed timber windows
  • Hot water is provided by two solar thermal panels with a back-up immersion
  • The roof was made as cassettes with natural fibre insulation giving a U-value of 0.11 W/m2.K
  • The house has a peak heating requirement of 1.8kW. Half of this comes through the MVHR system so that fresh air comes into the house at 18 degrees celsius. The other half comes from electric under-floor heating below the wood-effect porcelain tiles
  • The roof tiles are handmade clay tiles (3 colours mixed) that make the house sit comfortably alongside its listed neighbours
